One of the things I know about therapists is that we are a bright and curious group. Not only do we want to know how things work, we also want to know why things work. This interest and curiosity serves well in many areas of life and career.
Except, perhaps, when it comes to your online marketing. You see, the Internet is a vast place, filled with shiny objects. It can be – and is – all too easy to get caught up in the latest technology, or to try and adopt too many marketing strategies at one time.
When we don’t know what we’re doing, it’s difficult to separate the good advice from the bad, and the strategies that work from those that don’t.
If you are feeling overwhelmed with your marketing- online or off, it likely means you are trying to do too many things at once, without a good grounding in the basic foundations.
If your practice is half full, or more, it can be a good time to start examining the Internet as a source of potential clients. But, like any other marketing approach, you want to be sure you do online marketing right – meaning with ease and focusing on what we know works.
The keys are to:
1) build a strategy,
2) understand that right tools for that strategy, and
3) be consistent in applying those tools.
These keys are exactly what I use, each day, to build my practice on the internet. It can be difficult to settle down and focus, but the rewards are so worth it.
